There will be very little from me today because this edition is all about Club Day on the 4th of September. Just mainly to say why not buy your Extraordinary Pre-Season Social tickets (11th Sept).
The deadline on tickets, so we can get the food orders sent off, is fast approaching so go ahead and just pop on there now, before you come back to read the Club Day schedule, safe in the knowledge that you’ll be enjoying yourself at Tobacco Docks a few weeks from now, eating your choice of a chicken burger, another burger, or a tofu poke bowl. Dreamy.
Next Saturday 4th September we are hosting our on-pitch season curtain-raiser. We have local derbies, club derbies, open pitch time for skills courses, exhibition games and, of course, a social at the Moretown Belle to round it up. Get along for as much of the day and night as possible and bring any newbies who might fancy giving Wapping HC a go.
Club day is mainly hosted at LV this year and will crescendo to two 1st team exhibition games vs. strong visiting Bristol University sides who are over for the whole weekend and bound to be vocal and precocious in their support. Let's celebrate the stadium at LV being back open in a suitably raucous way before heading over to the Moretown Belle, together as a whole club for the first time in god knows how long. Don’t be surprised to see some of the Bristol Uni teams licking their wounds in there too, so let’s make a double effort to show them the best club to join in London after graduation.

11:00 - 13:00 - all club open session - games, skill sessions, session for all to come down and get involved on the pitch. Stay around after for National League level hockey and the bar at LV....

It would be perfect to get a crowd into the stadium at LV and celebrate being back with a few beers to warm up for social

On top of this the M9 have a game down the road at Waltham Forest so will be suitably exercised and invigorated to join the festivities afterward. The M10 and M11 were so excited about club day that they are keeping the day free for festivities and playing a friendly (as friendly as the M10 vs. M11 derby gets) instead the following week, before the Extraordinary Pre-Season Social (which you should buy a ticket for here).

Whether you’ve got a game or not there’s plenty to be getting involved with through the day. Come and welcome newbies at the open session at LV, meet some less new teammates in the stands for the exhibition game, or just make a damn good impression of the club to the visiting students. Whenever you join, make sure you come to MTB at the end of club day - it’s the first day of a new season and there’s a lot ahead for us.
There is still time to sign up for the inaugural Wapping HC Golf Day on Friday 3rd September at Woolston Manor Golf Club. All members and guests of all abilities are welcome! Not a golfer or can’t get the day off? Join us afterward for a summer BBQ and drinks starting from 6pm. The deadline for signing up is Friday 27th August.
